What you can import
A .pptx file from PowerPoint, or a PDF, up to 150 MB. Using Google Slides or Keynote? Download the deck as .pptx or PDF first. Older .ppt files need saving as .pptx.
AI reads the slides and builds a game from them in the deck’s own language. It doesn’t copy slide by slide: it leaves out title and thank-you slides, finds the questions and their answers, and picks a round for each part of the quiz, such as Multiple choice, Type answer or a Grid. A deck becomes at most 6 rounds.
From a PowerPoint it also brings over:
- the pictures in the slides, as question and answer pictures;
- the audio in the slides, as question and answer sound, so a music quiz keeps its songs.
Video in the slides is not imported. Add clips to the questions afterwards in the editor. A PDF brings text and pictures only.
How to import
- In My games, open the arrow next to Create game and choose Import from PowerPoint / PDF. In AmoQuiz Desktop the same item is in the File menu.
- Choose the file and press Import. Reading, uploading the media and building the questions take a minute or two for a big deck.
- Check what AI made. You can edit any question, change the Game name and untick what you don’t want.
- Press Create game. The game opens in the editor like any other.
Go through it once in the editor before the night: AI is good at this, but it can misread a slide.
How much it uses of your AI allowance
Every imported question counts towards your plan’s monthly allowance of AI questions, the same one AI-written questions use. The import window shows how many are left this month. If you run low, the app tells you how many are left, and you can import a shorter deck or upgrade.
When an import fails
- “A PowerPoint (.pptx) or PDF (.pdf) file is required.” The file is another type. Save it as .pptx or PDF.
- “The file is too large (max 150 MB).” Compress the pictures in PowerPoint (File → Compress Pictures) or split the deck.
- “The file contains no usable text, images or audio.” The slides are probably pictures of text. Try the PowerPoint file instead of a PDF, or type the questions in.
- “Another AI generation is already running.” Wait for the one in progress to finish.
Only the first 150 slides of a deck are read, so split a very long quiz into two games.
